Summary

Description
English: Most popular plate from Nicolaes Tulp's book "Observationes Medicae", showing the earliest known western drawing of a chimpanzee. This is the version from 1740, translated and embellished by Ludovicus Wolzogen. The book contains translations of medical notes by Tulp, but has some extra additions and plates. Published a century later than the original, and both were quite popular.
