Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8)	This is a historical logo of the Delaware Smash tennis team used from 1987 to 1995, when it played its home matches in New Jersey and was called the New Jersey Stars. The logo will be displayed in the section of the article discussing that period of the team's history.
Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1)	This was an official logo. There is no alternative free illustration.
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3)	The image to be displayed is small and not of high resolution.
Respect for commercial opportunities (WP:NFCC#2)	The team moved to Delaware in 1996, and stopped using the logo. In early 2009, the franchise folded and is no longer in business. A registration for the logo was filed on behalf of the team by World TeamTennis (WTT) with the US Patent and Trademark Office (serial number 74488336, registration number 1891415) in 1994. Registration was canceled by the USPTO in 2002, because WTT did not file a declaration of use of the mark in commerce. This is an indication that, as of 2002, neither World TeamTennis nor the Delaware Smash intended to continue using the logo.
