Description |
Deutsch: Das Kurfürstenpaar Friedrich Wilhelm und Louise Henriette von Brandenburg sind in einem monumentalen und repräsentativen Staatsporträt dargestellt, der Große Kurfürst in Rüstung und Kurmantel mit seiner Rechte auf den Feldherrnstab gestützt. Neben ihm auf dem Tisch liegen die Kurinsignien Kurhut und Zepter. Die über ihm angebrachte Draperie spielt auf einen Thronbaldachin an. Zwei kannelierte Säulen im Hintergrund symbolisieren Macht und Stärke. Die Kurfürstin wird von einem hohen, halbrunden Bogen einer Triumphbogenrchitektur gerahmt, mit Blick auf eine idyllische Landschaft.
In Komposition, Hintergrund, Kleidung, Haltung und Gestik der Dargestellten steht das Doppelbildnis in der Tradition der Haager Porträtmalerei. |

Deutsch: Der in Den Haag arbeitende Porträtist Pieter Nason schuf für den Kurfürsten 1666 mehrere Bildnisse. Das Doppelporträt steht wahrscheinlich im Zusammenhang mit einem längeren Aufenthalt des Kurfürstenpaares im Herzogtum Kleve, wo im Sommer die Hochzeit von Louise Henriettes jüngster Schwester Maria mit dem Pfalzgrafen Ludwig Heinrich Moritz von Simmern stattfand und der jüngste Sohn des Kurfürstenpaares, Ludwig Markgraf von Brandenburg, geboren wurde. Wenige Monate später verstarb Louise Henriette 1667 im Alter von 39 Jahren.
Spätestens ab 1728 bis in die Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts hing das Bild im Weißen Saal, dem großen Festsaal des Berliner Schlosses. |
