Summary

Description
English: Cottage of architect Bruno Ahrends (1878–1948) in Berlin-Dahlem, built 1911/12. The ample backyard was also planned by Ahrends in 1914. In 1917 the estate was sold to the Berlin banker Gustaf Ratjen. After WWII the estate was used by the US legate of West-Berlin. From 1996 it was the service villa of the President of German parliament Bundestag. Differently from that it was used by the President of Germany, Johannes Rau and his family between 1999 and 2004 as the President of Bundestag, Wolfgang Thierse did not use it. In 1921/22 the cottage got a chauffeur building with a double garage which was also planned by Ahrends for the subsequent owner of the estate.
