Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) Minerva Hamilton Hoyt
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) for visual identification of the person in question, at the top of his/her biographical article
Not replaceable with
free media because
(WP:NFCC#1)
The subject has been dead for roughly 70 years, and there do not appear to be other published images with reliable sourcing/dates.
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) The file is a small crop of an already low-resolution scan.
Respect for
commercial opportunities
(WP:NFCC#2)
The publishing company appears to no longer exist, and the text is no longer in print. In addition, from the contents of the text, it appears to have been a vanity publishing house, where subjects paid to have their biographies written up, so that the primary economic purpose is long past.
Other information The subject of the photograph has been deceased since: 1945

The source (openlibrary.org) appears to have an incorrect, pre-1923 publication date. Rather than rely on this, I've used what appears to be a more correct, 1931, publication/copyright date.
