Summary
| Description |
Michelle Branch is the most successful of a crop of young female singer-songwriters from the first decade of the millennium. I am enjoying a free concert of hers at The Grove shopping mall, part of a free concert series held there once a week every August. A similar August free concert at this very same place in 2006 was when I got to know and meet another great female singer-songwriter, Anna Nalick. I thoroughly enjoyed this show - Michelle performed many numbers, from her younger, earlier years through collaboration with Santana, her country duet project The Wreckers, to her newest album yet to be released. For the Santana collaboration number "The Game of Love," one of her on-stage guitarists subbed for Santana, while for the duet "Leave the Pieces," Ashley Monroe, the other half of The Wreckers, joined in. This was my first Michelle Branch show. I took in Michelle again on 27 August 2011 at Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, in the form of a joint show with the Goo Goo Dolls. |
