| Description |
English: Carved on a marble slab measuring 50x48 centimeters found walled on the southern side of the church. The inscription is written in Latin with nine lines, featuring letters of the fraktur type and using acronyms and abbreviations. It is one of many carved stone inscriptions found within Saint John Vladimir's Church in Elbasan.
Latin- An(n)o ab incarnacione d(omi)ni n(ost)ri Je(s) u Chri(sti) MCCCLXXXI i(n)di(ction)e V reg(na)nte i(n) Albania serenis(s)i(mo) pr(in)cipe d(omi)no Karulo Thopia pr(i)mo de domo Fra(n)ci(a)e, an(n)o d(omi)n(at)ionis XXII una cum il(l)ustris(s)imo suo flio pr(ri) mogenito d(omi)no Georgio ha(n)c eccl(esi)a(m) fe-cit. English- In the year of the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ 1381, in the 5th indiction, during the reign in Albania of the most serene prince, Karl Thopia, the first of the house of France, in the 22nd year of his reign, together with his illustrious firstborn son, Lord Gjergj, has built this church. |
