Summary
| Description |
English: Application of the Rule of Marteloio to find the distance between a ship and a shore landmark by triangulaton. The ship spots the landmark due West in the evening. After sailing on a NW bearing overnight for 40 miles, it sees the same landmark in the morning at West-southwest (WSW). By applying the Rule of Marteloio to this triangulation problem, the navigator can estimate the distance of the landmark from the ship. |
