The Rochdale Canal in Manchester built in 1800, passes between the Ashton Canal in Piccadilly and the Bridgewater Canal at Castlefield. The 'Rochdale Nine' locks are 84:Dale St, 85:Piccadilly, 86:Chorlton St, 87:Lock 87, 88:Lock 88, 89:Tib, 90:Albion Mills, 91:Tunnel, 92:Duke's. This section never closed. The junction with Manchester and Salford Junction Canal between ,88 ,89. opened in 1839 and closed in 1922.
