Image published in Drawing fire : a combat artist at war / Howard Brodie. Los Altos, CA: Portola Press, 1996, p. 57, with the accompanying caption: I illustrated the massacre at Malmedy from accounts of survivors: "The outfit was put into one group and a German officer searched us for wrist watches and took our gloves and cigarettes... We were marched into an open field about 100 feet from the road where German tanks were moving by. There were about 150 of us, counting officers and medics. We all stood there with our hands up when a German officer in a command vehicle shot a medical officer and one enlisted man... Then the MGs on the tanks opened up on the group..."

Licensing
This is a faithful photographic reproduction of a two-dimensional, public domain work of art. The work of art itself is in the public domain for the following reason:
Note that it may still be copyrighted in jurisdictions that do not apply the rule of the shorter term for US works (depending on the date of the author's death), such as Canada (50 p.m.a.), Mainland China (50 p.m.a., not Hong Kong or Macao), Germany (70 p.m.a.), Mexico (100 p.m.a.), Switzerland (70 p.m.a.), and other countries with individual treaties.
The official position taken by the Wikimedia Foundation is that "faithful reproductions of two-dimensional public domain works of art are public domain". This photographic reproduction is therefore also considered to be in the public domain in the United States. In other jurisdictions, re-use of this content may be restricted; see Reuse of PD-Art photographs for details.
