Rabbi Meir Leibush ben Yechiel Michel Wisser (Malbim) (1809-1879) was born in Volochysk, Ukraine, and was known as a genius. He authored his Artzot HaChaim on the Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim at the age of 18 and received approbations from Torah greats. He led the battle against the Reformers. Although he was a genius in all aspects of the Torah, he is primarily renowned for his classic commentary HaTorah v’haMitzvah on the Torah and other sections of the Prophets. His profound commentaries are based on the Hebrew language and its grammar. |
