Description
English: The sign at w:en:Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch railway station gives an approximation of the correct pronunciation for English speakers: Llan-vire-pooll-guin-gill-go-ger-u-queern-drob-ooll-llandus-ilio-gogo-goch. The "ch" is as in the German "ich" and the "ll" is a w:en:voiceless lateral fricative, a sound that does not occur in English. See also w:en:Welsh language.
