(1812, Laval (Mayenne), France - 1908) is a French painter, largely fixated on Victorian art, because much of his work - beautiful girls with black hair and big dark eyes, semi draped, lounging or being allegorical. His family moved to Paris (1825) where in due course he studied under Delaroche at the Ecole des Beaux Arts from 1837.
