Lagonda_Flamethrower.jpg (296 × 257 pixels, file size: 15 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)
Description: A 1940 photograph of the "Cockatrice", or Commer/Lagonda flamethrower armoured vehicle.
Source: Bovington Tank Museum photo No. 5886/D/4, sourced from a private collection donated by a Reginald Fraser.
Copyright: Not known definitively. The photographer himself is unidentified. If he was a member of the British armed forces, the image is now public domain as a photograph produced by the British government prior to 1975 (see Crown Copyright and {{PD-BritishGov}}. If he was a private citizen, copyright likely remains with the Museum since the donation of the collection. Given wartime recruitment the former is far more likely than the latter, but edging on the side of caution this image will be assumed to be under copyright for the foreseeable future.
Permission: None: Use on the English-language Wikipedia is believed to be allowed only by Fair Use guidelines.

Fair use rationale
[edit]It is believed that the use of this image in the article Lagonda flamethrower constitutes Fair Use for the following reasons:
- It is likely that the photographer belonged to one of the British Armed Forces, potentially allowing this to be public domain under the rationale listed at {{PD-BritishGov}}
- The photograph is of a unique vehicle, long since dismantled. As such it is likely that no free (or perhaps even fair use) alternative image exists.
- The photograph is displayed as a reduced web-resolution image, and as such presents limited competition with the original photograph.
- The photograph is thoroughly sourced and as much credit is provided as is currently possible.
