Source (WP:NFCC#4) | Original publication: Unknown Immediate source: http://www.keldysh.ru/memory/index1.htm |
Date of publication | Found on a memorial web page by the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, where it has been online at least since 2010 ([1]), probably earlier. Judging from the age of the person portrayed on the photo, the photo itself must have been taken decades before 1988 (when the portrayed person died) and might have been used for identification or illustration purposes in earlier publications. |
Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) | Konstantin Adolfovic Semendyayev |
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) | for visual identification of the person in question, at the top of their biographical article |
Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1) |
This is a portrait photo of a long deceased person. A new photo can therefore not be taken. Searching for alternatives, only one other photo of the person could be found in the net, but it was of unreliable origin and the subject was next to impossible to identify, so it would not have been suitable as a picture depicting the person in an article about him.
Our photo, however, was found on a memorial page of the reknown Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, so, while this was most probably not the original source of the photo either, we can at least be sure there was some editorial process involved before the photo was uploaded for usage as part of their memorial page, so we can be sure that the picture actually depicts the person in question. |
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) | The photo will only be used in an article about the person in order to help identify the person and illustrate the article. It is a low resolution image, compressed for online usage on the web. |
Respect for commercial opportunities (WP:NFCC#2) |
The person is long deceased and therefore has no commercial interests in this photo himself. The photo was found on an official (Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences), non-commercial memorial web page, conveying a positive message. If anything at all, our usage of the portrait in an article about the person can only help to keep the subject and his achievements in good memory. |
Other information | The subject of the photograph has been deceased since: 1988 |
