Description
Deutsch: Um 1898: Der Welfenplatz in Hannover, aufgenommen um 1898 aus einem Gebäude in der Celler Straße. Zu sehen sind unter anderem exerzierende und mit Kanonen übende Soldaten/Rekruten vor den Kasernen. Handschriftlich hat der Absender der Karte (siehe unten; Rückseite der Postkarte) auf dem Bild erläutert. Abschrift, oben links: "Hier liegt das 2te und 3te Batailion, Regiment 74, ... No. 5 (darunter:) 5te ... 6te 7te Offizierskasino."

Rechts: "Hier liegt das 1te Batailion No. 6 / Regiment No. 74 / 1te 2te 3te 4te / Infanterieplatz / Artillerie Exzerzierplatz / Der Platz ist 300 Meter lang und 280 Meter breit."

Vor den Gebäuden ist eine Allee aus relativ frisch angepflanzten Bäumen zu erkennen

Lediglich das Gebäude rechts ist heute noch erhalten und dient der Polizeidirektion Hannover. Anstelle des linken Gebäudes befindet sich heute die Albrecht-Dürer-Schule, im Vordergrund heute die Werner-von-Siemens-Schule.

Es existiert eine Variante dieser Ansichtskarte, auf der auf der Bildseite der Platz gelassen wurde für persönliche Nachrichten.
