Journal of Contemporary Art Vol.1 No.1 1988 cover design by Philip Pocock. Journal of Contemporary Art desktop-published magazine (1988-1992) co-founders, co-publishers, co-editors: Philip Pocock and John Zinsser.
The Journal of Contemporary Art was co-founded, co-published and co-edited in New York in 1988 by two artists, Philip Pocock and John Zinsser, with an editorial team including Klaus Ottmann, Joshua Decter, Peter Doroshenko, Jonathan Seliger and others. This early low-cost, interview-based, semi-annual contemporary art journal was a very early desktop-publishing venture, reviewed by Douglas McGill in his "Art People" New York Times column, 1988-01-22. It migrated online to the art server, The Thing - www.thing.net - in 1990 under the new leadership of Klaus Ottmann, ceased regular print publication a few years later, and altogether by 1995. It is archived online at http://www.jca-online.com
