Author Urheber ist laut der Signatur "G.A. Mayer", womit wahrscheinlich August Georg Mayer (1834–1889) gemeint ist. Er hat 1857 nachweislich ein Josef-Staudigl-Öl-Porträt gemalt. Siehe: "Kunstausstellung im Oktober" ("Der Humorist", 23. Oktober 1857, 3) und "Wiener Brief" (Linzer Tages-Post, 1. Dezember 1889, 1).
