English: In the 1700s, a salt maker with the name of Mariano Dacoba was surprised that a calpe tree he chopped down while clearing his landlord's field remained fresh. The landlord and the friar then asked a sculptor to work the tree into something that turned out to be 3 images: Joroan's Nuestra Senora de Salvacion, Tiwi's San Antonio de Padua, and Buhi's Nuestra Senora de Solidad. The first Joroan chapel was built at around 1776 and replaced by the current structure in 1919. |
