Description
English: Female and male "anthropomorphous fish " (Late L. piscis anthropomorphos ανθρωπόμορφ[ος]; Early modern Spanish: Peche muger), from Johannes Jonston's Historiae naturalis de piscibus et cetis libri 5. (1657). The capture of the creature from Visayas, Philippines is mentioned. The indigenous name duyon suggests it was in fact the dugong.
