The photo was taken by Richard Shipman, a photographer from the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11), from the back seat of an Curtiss SB2C Helldiver of Bombing Squadron 18 (VB-18). Aircraft from VB-18 attacked both Yamato and Musashi at around 1030 hrs. |
