Japanese province of Satsuma on Kuishu island became famous for their fine ware. During the Meiji period in late 19th century, they produced ornamneted, enamelled, and gilded pottery often with scenes of Samurai life. .Kinkosan family of Kyoto were regarded in high esteem for producing this pottery and their use of gold and silver with vivid colours and elaborate scene are well depicted in this vase.
