Description
English: Australian War Memorial image 128796. Japanese prisoners of war at Maprik, New Guinea. May 1945. They are IJA Lt Col Takenaga ('Tagenaka' is imprecision) and 41 survivors of his battalion, and surrendered at Kubriwat to a platoon of the 2/5th infantry battalion. The third man from right is the platoon commander, Lieutenant (Lt) C. H. Miles.
