Il s'évade en 1943 par les Pyrénées, prisonnier à Pampelune et à Madrid, il arrive à Oran en 1943. Administrateur de Radio-France à Alger en mai 1944. À la libération il préside la SOFIRAD, est nommé conseiller d’État, commandeur de la Légion d'Honneur
