English: NIDHE JEWISH SYNAGOGUE; JEWS FIRST ARRIVED IN BARBADOS IN 1628 BUT WERE NOT ALLOWED TO WORSHIP UNTIL 1654 WHICH WAS SEVERAL YEARS BEFORE THEY WERE ALLOWED IN ENGLAND. ONE OF THE OLDEST SYNAGOGUES IN THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE. THE JEWISH POPULATION IS VERY SMALL HAVING BEEN DECIMATED THROUGH THE YEARS BY THE FEVERS WHICH AFFLICTED BARBADOS. |
