English: Ex-North Eastern 4-6-2T at Hull Dairycoates Locomotive Depot.
One of several employed on shunting and trip work in the extensive marshalling yards in the district, Raven A7 No. 9772 is in use even on a Sunday - and its crew enjoy being photographed. Dairycoates was a large Depot, with an allocation in 1947 of 123 locomotives, comprising:- 2 4-6-0, 8 4-4-2, 13 2-6-0, 10 2-8-0, 12 0-8-0, 21 0-6-0, 4 4-8-0T, 13 4-6-2T, 2 2-4-2T, 24 0-6-2T, 10 0-6-0T, 3 0-4-0T; of these all except the 2-6-0's and some of the 2-8-0's were rather elderly ex-NER engines.
