English: Hugh Dillman McGaughey, son of Mr. J. B. McGaughey, 1953 Concord Road, enlisted in the United States Navy in December 1917. He began his military service as a private in the Radio Section stationed at Camp Pelham, New York. At the time of his enlistment, Mr. McGaughey was a well-known stage actor in New York. He performed under the name of Hugh Dillman. Mr. McGaughey's first wife was the actress Marjorie Rambeau. He is perhaps best known for his second marriage to Dodge Brothers heiress, Anna Dodge, in 1926. Anna Dodge credited him with teaching her how to have fun spending money. On one trip to Europe, the couple bought several hundred old barns in Greece to obtain aged cypress paneling for a reception room, and an entire French inn to provide floorboards for a bar area. The materials were used in the mansion, Rose Terrace, the couple built in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Mr. McGaughey reportedly received an annual allowance of more than $100,000 from Anna Dodge as well as a trust fund worth $6 million. The couple divorced in 1947.
