Summary

Description
English: The Maulsby-Corson-Hovenden House, at the northeast corner of Germantown & Butler Pikes, was begun in 1767. It was expanded c.1795 by Samuel Maulsby (1768-1838). His daughter Martha (1807-1870) and her husband George Corson (1803-1860) made it a station on the Underground Railroad. Their daughter Helen (1846-1935), a painter who trained in Philadelphia and Paris, married the Irish-born painter Thomas Hovenden (1840-1895). They lived here until their deaths.
