DescriptionHopperton railway station (site), Yorkshire (geograph 3791264).jpg
English: Hopperton railway station (site), Yorkshire Opened in 1848 (as Allerton) by the East & West Yorkshire Junction Railway, soon to be part of the North Eastern Railway empire, on the line from Knaresborough to York. This station closed to passengers in 1958. View west towards Goldsborough and Knaresborough. The 1909 OS map shows the Knaresborough-bound platform to be opposite the station building whilst the York-bound-platform was behind the camera position, now largely underneath the A1(M) flyover. The crossing in the foreground was for the original A1 Great North Road. The name changed from Allerton to Hopperton in 1925. (All dates subject to confirmation).
