Captions

The model for this severe, archaizing bronze Head of Woman was made by Gaston Lachaise in 1917/1922 from a marble sculpture inspired by his wife and carved in 1917 (MFA, Boston, 68.789). This cast (MET, 1998.280.2) was probably made in the 1970s.
