DescriptionGreenham Common women's protest 1982, gathering around the base - geograph.org.uk - 759136.jpg
English: Greenham Common women's protest 1982, gathering around the base, near to Greenham, West Berkshire, Great Britain.
On 12 December 1982, 30,000 women of all ages, classes and ideologies travelled from all over the UK to gather at the USAF base at Greenham Common to demonstrate against the decision to hold nuclear missiles here. Some stayed on in a Peace Camp that lasted for 19 years, others returned here again and again and many more were inspired to support the peace movement in different ways. The protest is part of history now, see <a title="http://www.iwm.org.uk/upload/package/22/greenham/protest.htm" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.iwm.org.uk/upload/package/22/greenham/protest.htm">Link</a><img style="padding-left:2px;" alt="External link" title="External link - shift click to open in new window" src="http://s0.geograph.org.uk/img/external.png" width="10" height="10"/>
