Summary
DescriptionGraveslab Jerpoint 1.jpg |
English: Unfortunately, no details can be found on the Historic Environment Viewer about any of the grave slabs or tombs, but I would presume this is an early one, i.e. 13th/14th century. Carrigan describes the fashion as being Edwardian by which he means the first 3 English kings called Edward.[1] At his time, he was able to read "HIC IACET THOMAS S [...] P[RO]PICIETUR5 DEUS. A. MC°C°C° PAT. N. AC [AVE]" which he translates to "Here lies Thomas S [on whose soul] God have mercy. A.[D.] 1300. Pater noster et [Ave]."[2]
