Single image from an article in a medical journal. |
Low resolution? |
Resolution of this image will not affect journal subscriptions (i.e. revenue). |
Purpose of use |
This image helps grade 4 PAIS patients make medical decisions (e.g. type and extent of genitoplasty) by clearly illustrating the surgically unaltered genitalia of an individual with grade 4 PAIS. This kind of information is very difficult to get. |
Replaceable? |
PAIS is a very rare disorder, affecting approximately 1 in 100,000 births. This particular variant (grade 4) rare even among individuals with PAIS. Many will have genitplastic surgery shortly after puberty, making this photograph exceedingly rare, and very unlikely that it can be replaced. It is also worthy to note that this subject is sensitive, and calls for medical quality photography. |
