DescriptionGlyptodon tail - Cleveland Museum of Natural History (34414489880).jpg
Glyptodon tail fossil at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States.
Glyptodon was first identified by Richard Owen in 1839. These animals first appeared about 2.5 million years ago, and died out just 6,000 years ago. Human predation may have helped drive them extinct.
The date and place where this fossil was found is irritatingly not provided by the museum.
