English: The scene depicts an episode from Ariosto's Orlando Furioso (XII, 23 ff.). The honeymooning king of Damascus, Norandino, and his wife, Lucina, are shipwrecked on an Ogre's island and taken to its cave. When they try to escape, Lucina is discovered.
