English: Gaping Gill main chamber. Gaping Gill's main chamber, during the 2006 August bank holiday winch meet of Craven Pothole Club. The main shaft is top centre, with the Rat and Mouse waterfalls entering on the left. The floor is littered with small rocks and muddy clay. The cavern regularly floods to a depth of 60 feet. The floor of the cavern is 360 feet below the surface of the moor above it.

The main chamber of Gaping Gill. The porcelaineous band of harder limestone can be seen about a third of the way up the left-hand wall. The main waterfall descends the main shaft, while smaller waterfalls, the Rat and the Mouse, are to iits left. The picture is taken from the western end of the chamber. The group of visitors in the centre are awaiting re-ascent on the winch chair.
