Notes Ce portrait est l'œuvre d'une lauréate du prix de Rome. Joseph Édouard de La Motte-Rouge est né à Pléneuf le 3 février 1804. Il est général de brigade en 1853, puis de division en 1855. Il participe aux campagnes de Crimée et d'Italie. Député au Corps législatif en 1869, il est élu sénateur en 1870. Il est général en chef de l'armée de la Loire, et grand-croix de la Légion d'honneur en 1873. Il est premier juge titulaire au procès du maréchal Bazaine, comme doyen des généraux de division ayant commandé une armée. Il meurt à La Motte-Rouge le 2 janvier 1883.
