The Public Baths at 538 East 11th Street, between Avenues A and B in the Alphabet City area of the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, was built in 1904-1905 and designed by Arnold W. Brunner the the neo-Italian Renaissance style. The baths closed in 1958, and the building was used as a warehouse and garage. In 1980 scenes for the film Ragtime were shot in the building. In 1995 photographer Eddie Adams converted it into a high-end photo studio, "Bathhouse Studios". The building was designated a NYC landmark in 2008.
