Description
Erwin Mills Company established the town of Cooleemee, building the cotton mill on the South Yadkin River in 1899. In peak operation, the mill employed 1,800 workers. Until closing in 1969, the mill sponsored a broad range of recreational, social, religious, civic, and educational opportunities.
