Summary

Description "Bleriot traversant la Manche le 25 Juillet 1909" Paris: M.M., 1909. Hand-coloured pochoir print. Image size (including text): 14 1/8 x 30 1/4 inches. Louis Bleriot flies over the English Channel and wins the £1000 Daily Mail prize. The Bleriot type XI "Onze" was the most famous and successful of the Bleriot line. This actual aircraft is preserved in the Paris Conservatorie des Arts et Metiers. In 1911, the type XI became the first airplane used in a war.
