Description
English: Elizabeth "Bess" Eaglesfield was the first woman to practice law in Indiana. Here she is posed for her student portrait at the University of Michigan's School of Law, from which she graduated in 1878. She had already been admitted to the Indiana State Barr via the Vigo County Circuit Court in 1875, after studying law under attorney William Mack, who nominated her.
