English: On Sept. 20, 2012, sandhogs working on the East Side Access project broke through the last piece of wall separating the Manhattan tunnel from the Queens tunnel, thereby taking a big step toward a contiguous tunnel more than 3.5 miles long from Sunnyside Yard in Queens to 37th Street and Park Avenue in Manhattan
