Summary

Description

New Orleans: View of Elysian Fields Avenue looking lakewards from just on the River side of North Roman Street. Neutral Ground (median) was former route of the Pontchartrain Rail-Road, 1830s - 1930s. The stone at lower right was a railroad mile-stone, one of the few remainders of the old railway. The stone has long since worn smooth and is illegible. According to local historians, this is the only remenent of the long defunct railway still existing in situ.
