Summary
[edit]Description | Picture of Carlos Villa's painting During (1982) at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C., in 2023. A large abstract painting hangs on the gallery wall, composed primarily of wide, gestural swirls, marks, and brush strokes. The most visible colors are swirls of peach and gray, and splotches of red, green, and black. Two abstracted figures are located in the center of the painting, rendered in blue and white as torsos and legs, with the upper part of the figures each branching into two directions. Several handprints in white and blue can be seen at the edges of the work, along with eight blurry face-prints in shades of gray or blue and yellow. |
