Description
Français : S'inspirant d'un épisode du IIe chant du célèbre poème Don Juan de Byron, Henry Scheffer représente le jeune Don Juan, après son naufrage, échoué sur les rives d’une île grecque où il est recueilli et soigné par Haydée (dont l’orthographe du nom varie suivant les auteurs), la fille d’un chef pirate. Dans les chants suivants, l’auteur développe la passion entre les deux jeunes gens, la colère du père d’Haydée puis la vente de Don Juan comme esclave au sultan de Constantinople.
