Summary

Description
English: The most influential Franciscan map of Jerusalem, copied by numerous subsequent mapmakers. The Franciscan order, which had been appointed by the Vatican as custodians of the Holy Places in the 14th century, was devoted to spreading knowledge of the city. The map, engraved by Mario Cartaro and printed at the Santa Maria in Ara Coeli in Rome, was rediscovered in 1981.
