Portrait of Magdalena Poulle with her Nephew Pieter in 1683.
Description
English: Magdalena Poulle bought the ruins of Castle Gunterstein in 1680 on the Vecht river to build a new "buitenhuis" with extensive gardens, which became an example for other rich widows, like the one created in 1697 at Vijverhof by Agnes Block. Her nephew Pieter (who died in 1684) laid the first stone and is holding a plan of the garden in his hands.
Colored print of the castle and its grounds ca. 1695
