Object history
Deutsch: Der Wellenschildfuß versinnbildlicht die Lage der Gemeinde am Chiemsee und redet für den zweiten Teil des Orts- und Gemeindenamens. Der Schlüssel, Attribut des heiligen Petrus, verweist auf die Grundherrschaft des Klosters St. Peter in Salzburg, das wie andere Klöster das Obereigentum über Güter im Gemeindegebiet innehatte. Der wichtigste Grundherr war jedoch seit dem Spätmittelalter der bayerische Herzog, der Mitte des 13. Jahrhunderts auch die Vogtei über die Salzburger Besitzungen erlangte. Auf diese herrschaftsgeschichtliche Entwicklung verweisen die Farben Silber und Rot für das Hochstift Salzburg und Silber und Blau für das wittelsbachische Herzogtum Bayern. Der Anker ist ein Attribut des heiligen Nikolaus, der als Schutzheiliger der Schiffer gilt und dem die Pfarrkirche in Übersee geweiht ist.
