This is a brilliant cut, synthetic gemstone called "cubic zirconia", which is zirconium dioxide, ZrO2. This chemical exists naturally as the mineral baddeleyite. Cubic zirconia is a produced as a diamond simulant - it is usually clear ("colorless"). Compared with diamond, cubic zirconia is softer and heavier.
