Description Portrait of a Creole woman in a madras tignon. Previously believed to depict Marie Laveau (d. 1888).

Source Self-made, original painting, after Frank Schneider: reference source was a portrait, allegedly of Marie Laveau, painted by Frank Schneider c. 1920. [1]. Schneider, in turn, copied an original portrait, presumably from life, by George Catlin (see link above).
